Contact lens FAQs
Are contact lenses comfortable?
Yes. In fact, materials, designs and technologies used to make soft contact lenses are always evolving and improving, which means they are becoming more comfortable all the time. Some of the best lenses feel like you are wearing no lens at all.
How often can I wear them?
You can wear them every day if you wish. There are many different types of contact lenses, which means they need changing at different times. Examples include: daily disposable contact lenses, which are new every day, and reusable lenses that you can wear for up to a month at a time.
Are they difficult to apply?
Not especially. You do have to be confident when putting them onto your eye and removing them. We will show you how to do that safely, so don’t worry.
Can a contact lens slip behind your eye?
Absolutely not. There is no place for it to go. A well-fitting contact lens will remain on the front of your eye until you choose to take it off.
I have astigmatism. Can I wear contact lenses?
Yes you can. There are a wide variety of contact lenses available to correct astigmatism, including daily disposable lenses.
I wear reading glasses/varifocals. Can I wear contact lenses?
Again, yes you can. There are plenty of choices if you need a reading prescription, including new multifocal contact lenses. Your optometrist will be able to help you select the option that is best for you.
