Coatings

Anti-glare resistant

A set of ultra- thin layers on the lens surfaces that eliminates reflections to dramatically reduce glare. Reflections on both sides of the lens can lead to the wearer experiencing glare, which creates visual discomfort and reduces clarity of vision. An anti-reflective lens also gives better vision for night driving, which means improved safety – and for computer use, which means less eyestrain. As the lenses are more transparent, the wearers eye are no longer hidden behind reflections.

Scratch-resistant technology

A hard film that creates a much tougher surface on lenses. (These are still susceptible to damage, especially if dropped). The technology gives glasses a longer life. This is a must have, and even more so on children’s glasses.

Water resistant

A water resistant treatment that repels water droplets, preserving clarity of vision. Lenses with a water-repellent surface prevents water collecting. The water rolls into small droplets and slides off the lens with ease. With ordinary lenses water spreads and sticks to the surface.

UV protection

A clear filter on the lenses that protects the eyes from damaging UV light, which can be applied to glasses as well as sunglasses. UV light is harmful to eyes, and has been linked to the development of unsightly thickening on the surface of the eyes and cataracts. People who regularly spend time outdoors should opt for UV protection. UV protection is recommended for all sunglasses but can also be applied to clear, everyday lenses too.

Night-time glare

Driving is a passion for some and an obligation for others. We are all spending more time on the road but the same problem comes up every time we are behind the wheel: we don’t feel as comfortable when driving at night. In fact, 17 million drivers in the UK struggle to see at night.  We have the solution; we can offer you a lens which offers up to 90% less reflections at night, leading to a decrease in glare therefore offering optimal clarity of vision during the day and night.

Varifocals

We understand that screens and digital devices are a major part of our lives. TV and tablets in the home, computers at work and smartphones for staying connected in between. We recognised for varifocals wearers, using different digital devices throughout the day can be a challenging experience on your eyes and posture. Until now.

To meet our ever demanding visual needs we need flexibility in our glasses and our range of varifocals will in most cases for fill your everyday needs from TV, tablets, computers, smart phones - helping you to stay connected.

In short, everything that matters today happens within arm's reach. Before now, no varifocal lens has been designed to accommodate these modern day behaviours and therefore you had to, 'point your nose to where you want to look at'. New technology now removes this limitation dramatically reducing head movement so you don’t have to find the sweet spot. Just ask our experts how. Our new state of the art X-series lens has minimised the limitations of conventional varifocals dramatically thereby reducing head movements.

Patient Stories

“I have always found Kellys to be professional and courteous. The glasses I chose were varifocals with sunglasses dimming and polarising lenses, as well as anti-glare and anti-scratch coatings. I said I would let you know how they performed as the supplier was a new one to you. Having just come back from the French Alps I am very pleased with the polarising effect.”
