World Sight Day is on Thursday 12th October 2023 and this year, it’s focusing on the importance of eye care in the workplace, encouraging you to pause and think about your eyesight.
The modern working environment, often dominated by screens and artificial lighting, presents unique challenges to our eye health which can impact both our productivity and overall well-being.
It's not merely about seeing clearly; it's about working safely, efficiently and ensuring our eyes remain healthy in the long term. Regular eye tests are crucial in this endeavour. As we mark this significant day, let's make a commitment to prioritise our eye health, acknowledging how pivotal clear vision is, both professionally and personally.
We encourage you to take a moment on World Sight Day to reflect on the health of your eyes. Here are some things you could consider: When was your last comprehensive eye examination? Have you been experiencing headaches, feeling exhausted after work, or dealing with eye strain? Do your eyes often feel watery or itchy? Do you find yourself having neck and back pain while working at your screen? Is night time driving becoming a concern? Or perhaps you're seeking guidance on sun protection?
Following on from your eye test, our team of highly qualified professionals will use the information we have gathered about you and your eyes to discuss all of our findings and give you the best advice to get you seeing well and keep you comfortable.

Get an in-depth OCT scan
At Kelly Eyecare, we offer OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), a new, highly advanced and non-invasive screening system. It helps us to examine your eyes in more detail and greater depth than has ever been possible before.
The scanning system uses light waves to take cross-section images of the retina, showing us the component layers in high resolution. Through OCT, we can thoroughly assess the health of the optic nerve, the eye's central nerve. This technology empowers us to diagnose a range of eye conditions, including macular holes, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. If we discover any retinal changes that are of concern, we can make recommendations or refer you to a consultant.
